it will also be the wind/ sun combination dehydrating the leaves.

it probably is my pepper and chilli plants didnt like the strong sun at all only 30mins or so and then they would need a rest they just didnt have the roots or thick enough leafes to handle the sun the wind hurt them alot to which is why alot of people advise you to brush the top of plants for 5 seconds each day to get them to thicken the stem like the wind would in the wild

Yes, they can. I plant my Cayenne on the allotment where they do really well.

Ditto. We put a selection of chillies & sweet peppers out into raised beds last summer, most did ok (we were a bit late putting them out) and some did really well. Try some, its the only way you'll know for sure.

droopy chillies = shock.

this will be caused (as the others have said by the cold outside).

some of mine are currently a bit droopy after i re-potted them a day or two ago. keep them nice and warm inside for a bit longer and they'll be fine.
