Bitter lettuces are probably better with vinaigrette - salad cream has sweeteners / sugar in.

Talking of bitter lettuces, I worked hard at building up a couple of dandelions, forced them under buckets for a couple of weeks, tried the delicate leaves......... still horrible and bitter, stuck a load of salad cream on the salad, lovely.

Won't bother doing that again.

I just loved the salads in Italy, Womble - bitter leaves with oil and balsamic to dress them! And there is an Italian on our lottie site whose salad leaves look sooo tempting!
