Well, most people don't have distilled water on tap.Originally posted by maypril View PostYou mean distilled water, surely?
Tap water will be slightly alkaline depending on where you live.
The reason that I say tap water; is because it is easily accessable and some pH meters read it as highly acid or alkaline - thus proving that they are not reading correctly.
If it reads neutral for tap water; then I usually suggest a test on lemon juice and/or soap. As another calibration check.

I thought I'd bring this post up for anyone else that has this ph meter. Mine worked ok but I couldn't figure out how to read it either so I contacted wilkinsons customer services who were really good.
Here is the response
:
Thank you for your recent email and for giving me the opportunity to respond to you.
I have contact our supplier for their advice on this and they have responded as follows,
PH 1 2 is a reading of 4 marks each so each bar on the PH scale increases by 0.25.
PH 3 10 is a reading of 2 marks each so each bar on the PH scale increases by 0.5
I hope this helps.
Kind Regards
Susan Snowden
