Lordy, I don't think I could cope with being that close!!!!!

My little lottie's a 2-3 min drive from my flat, so I do actually have time toi think to myself "so what exactly are you going down there for??" before I get there - has been my saving grace a number of times, or I would probably have planted all sorts of things at random times by now!

I did get caught out thinking I could beat Mother Nature and plant some radishes out of season, but they didn't make it through the frosts we had. I'm hoping that's my lesson learned, and I'll try to restrain myself in future.

Sorry Sarah, but I couldn't help picking up on the fact that your lottie is only 3 minutes drive. If it's that close why are you driving there? Couldn't you walk it and save the petrol?

When I don't have mountains of stuff to take with me, I do walk it - it's quite nice every so often. I do, however, tend to take loads and loads of stuff with me most times I go - bags of kitchen waste, tools (I can't afford 2 sets at the mo, so don't have any I can leave in my shed), plants, pots and all the usual. I'm trying to save up for a second set of tools, and when I get them, the car will stay home a lot more!

It takes longer to drive than walk to our lottie !
I can keep tools there & fetch them back when I need them at home (very small garden)

Our plot is about a 5 min drive or 15 min walk, but with having heard that most folks have had their sheds broken into on fairly regular basis (even tho we've 8' tall security fending which is covered in brambles) and the fact that our inherited shed is not at all secure we arent able to leave any tools on our plot, so have to take them in the car each time we go! I'd love to be able to leave the car behind, but at the moment it really isnt possible!

potatoes

I have planted a row of earlies in the polytunnel last week and a Tub with 6 potatoes today in the tunnel, will they be ok or will the tunnel get frost.
