One lot of tomatoes (costoluto fiorentino ) have tiny little rusty coloured particles on top of the compost, although the plants look nice and healthy. Is this bad Help please.
S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig a batch of jam is always an act of creation ..Christine Ferber
Not the end of the world...just an algae growing...happens occasionally...normally when compost has been a bit too soggy....not usually a problem but pot on soon just incase they damp off (rot at soil level)
I'd discard the top 1/4 inch of compost before you bury the rootball at potting on
You can... water with tap...helps a bit with young seedlings.
-Try to water from the bottom only.
-Remember young plants don't drink much
-Don't overfeed young plants as excess nutrients can also be a cause
