Probably because the ground carrots were an easy target

[how bizare, I just clicked quote - and got the raw html ] Anyway, i did a similar this - left a few kamakazi seedlings out for the slugs, but the beggers ignored those, and went to the later cucumber and pepper plants and stripped them bare last year!
