pea outside

ok,
i have grown my peas in little pots in the greenhouse to give them a good start and them put them in my cold frame to aclimatise them a bit. And last night the cold frame had an argument with the wind and the wind won.
So now i have no cold frame, can i plant them out now, will they need one of my trusty plastic bottle cloches or will they be ok?
Any help appreciated

I have 36ft of Feltham first shoots coming up through the soil and at the weekend I put in another 3 x 12ft rows and will do the same next weekend but will sow Kelvedon Wonder.

I put my Mangetout out on sunday (under fleece) as it was about a foot tall, but then again I am an impatient so and so.

Peas are hardy and can be planted straight into the ground (but I like to start mine off in gutters in the greenhouse). If you've been hardening them off I don't see why they can't go into the ground now. Frost shouldn't be a problem if the forecast is correct, but if you do get any, and you're really concerned, you could cover them with fleece. Personally I'd leave them uncovered.

I would say some are Ok without fleece, yours are little baby plants so should be able to hold their own

Plastic bottles worked well for me last year - prevented slug damage as much as anything else

Why not start them in pots or toilet roll inners, keep them inside and move them out when the weather warms up.

Definitely too cold here for pea-ing outside.

they should be fine to go outside. I would perhaps protect the sugar snap a bit but that's just me. Any net curtain or like you say perhaps some plastic bottles.

Feltham first are a hardy pea and will not need any protection, You may want to put bottle tops over the sugar snap.

ok my peas are planted, they are now in the hands of the veggie god.
Have helped the oregons with some plastic bottles though

My peas - round seeded are hardier than wrinkled seeded and mine are round - went out in February. You aren't too far from me. They should be fine. Peas are much tougher than people think - just keep the pigeons off!
Planted out Goldensweet - another mangetout - and a purple podder today too.

I planted some Pilot peas out a week or so ago and to be honest would have done that earlier if it hadn't been raining. Will be planting some Goldensweet mange tout on Friday if it's nice.

Going to risk some of mine planting straight into the large pots at the weekend (if they sprout ok on the kitchen roll). Last years' weren't killed by frost (at around the same time) so am feeling hopeful! Will be planting Starlight, Hurst Green Shaft, Bijou Giant Sugar Pea and Latvian.

Wish I could do my beans, but I daren't!
