Know your Onions!!!

I would like to have a go at some Onions, so I have bought Allium Centurion..50 for �1.27 from Wilkos.

Now what

Can I grow them in a root trainer or straight into a large half barrel or both

yea sets...Thanks Teb, so how deep and how many in my barrel?

Pointy end up , just deep enough so that there is a bit above ground (watch out for birds tugging them up), 4" - 6" between sets and roughly 9" between rows is typical

In a barrel id plant them 6" between plants all way round

If you look at the square foot gardening thread you should be able to get 16 sets in a 1ft sq cell, one every 4 inches in each direction.
