    A good plant finding link.

FMP's quick glance lists for special plants for special places

      Nice one!
I'm really struggling with finding plants for my drought/scorching south facing acid soil with exposed northeasterly winds!!!....which can cope with soggy , freezing ( -14C) winters!!!!

      Nice one to browse through!Thanks

Thanks for the links, I've bookmarked the thread rather than the individual links.

Good thinking Bren, then as links are added, the thread & bookmark will automatically be updated.

I was browsing some old threads for some info & wondered if now would be a good time to bump this thread for any newbies.

A great site. Thanks. But now I have a question. Planting garlic under apple and pear trees for their benefit sounds good but am I right in thinking you couldn't do it every year because you have to rotate your garlic.

                Please tell.

That first site says don't plant basil near sage - what is 'near'? I have a small balcony, about 2m length x 1m wide, is that too near? Or just separate containers good enough - ie advice means don't share soil?

But how much of it actually works? Some of it possibly, but a lot of it is wishful thinking

There's no companion planting on earth that will deter carrot fly. If they want your carrots they'll get em!

And I was told never to plant peas and onions together as they don't like each other. They do in my garden.

For me the best defence against pests and disease is a very healthy soil full of organic matter which produces healthy crops able to withstand all but the most determined onslaught. Oh, and enviromesh, of course.
