Old Compost

Having grown potatoes in tubs for the first time last year I have a large amount of compost which I obviously do not want to use agin for spuds. Any suggestions as to how I can use this compost e.g seeds or hanging baskets.

I'd say use it for seeds, or topping up your other beds. If you make your own compost, you can add the excess to this and it will all help! I'm in the same boat myself. Just make sure you don't use it for Spuds or Tomatoes.

I just use mine as a soil conditioner in the beds or add it to the compost bins

Please add your location to your profile Cairnoscar. I guess you're a long way from me or I would happily collect your used compost. I use mine as soil conditioner in the garden and on the lottie.

I've not had any joy using it for small seeds and now use new seed compost for them. Both leeks and lettuce didn't like it for germination last year.
It's brilliant for bean seeds and for potting on lettuce/rocket/ brassicas etc.( I have to grow everything to a decent size in pots before it goes out in the garden, because my own cats dig up seedbeds!)
I've re-cycled lots in containers of spring bulbs and summer bedding containers too.

I always mix in some gromore and sheep or chicken pellets before re-using it
