In order to save on a raised bed, I am thinking of growing my potatoes in postal sacks. I can get them in various colours from dark grey to green to pink to white. I would guess grey would be the best to use (to reduce light getting through the sack & absorb heat)......does the colour matter?.......Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Wouldn't want you to get given the sack, eh BM ?
!
I'll be interested to know how you get on, as that is how I am planning to do them this coming year. At present I have only the choice of white or green materiel...
There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.
Head-hunted member of the Nutter's Club - can I get my cranium back please ?

I would like to know why you have Ozzie Osborne as your avatar?
PS You could always put a bin bag INSIDE the sacks if you were worried about the light getting through!

I'm gonna do an experiment with spuds, have been down to works post room & picked up a variety of sack colours. Will see how each one comes on.sigpicGorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,

Dark grey sack on the inside and a green one on the outside. It'll block the light and it'll blend in with the rest of the plot too
