Think I've made a boo boo...........

Just unwrapped my seed parcel from T&M and realised I've purchased an F1 Jalapeno (didn't know there was such an animal!) and an F1 version of San Marzano tomato!!!!

This means I will NOT be able to keep the resultant fruits for seed next year! Gutted!!!!!!

I didn't know there was an F1 San Marzano?! I'd be tempted to save the seeds anyway, might be they've just crossed a SM with another SM? Either way, you should end up with some interesting plums...

Thanks for the offer Jilly but I have some non F1 Jallies I've just taken off my own plants today. Was just planning on starting again as my jallies were on the short side this year for some reason.
The ones I've just bought are Jalapeno Summer Heat F1 Hybrid and I've just realised there are only ten seeds in the packet. I'll probably grow some of my own saved ones after all, plus a mixed batch I intend getting!

300 seeds for �1.89, doesn't say anything about F1 and unlikely to be at that price....

If you haven't opened the packets, Snadger, send 'em back and ask for a replacement or credit note, most seed companies have to give that assurance if not satisfied with the deal. If you have opened the packets slightly trickier but a call to their Customer Relations might sort it, partic if you're a regular.

Anyway I don't think that Snadger can make a boo boo, just not pos, that's not in my reckoning for Twenty Ten! Happy New Year!

Snadger, On the Jalapenos you�ve got a slightly different problem as T&M appear to only do their "exclusive" F1 version, 10 seeds for �1.99�.

HOWEVER you have grounds for complaint as they have TWO separate sites advertising the same seeds but only ONE of them mentions that they are F1�.:

If you go to:

Pepper : Chili/Hot : Jalapeno Summer Heat F1 Hybrid

at

Pepper : Chili/Hot : Jalapeno Summer Heat F1 Hybrid (Seeds)

it specifies F1

BUT if you go to:

Chili Pepper : Jalapeno Summer Heat (hot)

at

Chili Pepper : Jalapeno Summer Heat (hot) (Seeds)

IT DOESN�T MENTION F1��

So (whether you've opened 'em or not) complain, you were ordering from the second site which didn't specify F1�..!

I didn't think I would have bought them if they had been sold as F1's. The tomatoes you've listed are the ones I bought but it deffo says F1 on the packet! You are right though, 300 seeds are way too many for F1's I would hope.
I'll go with the flow and use the ones I've been sent, and the Jalapeno's also, but maybe this thread could act as a warning to anyone else wanting to grow plants for seed saving. Happy TT to you as well Baz, as well as all other grapes!

PS It does mention F1 on BOTH packets!
