    I agree Ann.

Once you've been veg gardening for a while you realise it's no good growing a crop, clearing the ground, THEN saying "Now what can I put in this space?"

Best way is to decide what winter crops you like to eat and want to grow and sow pockets of the required seeds at the correct sowing time. You don't have to plan exactly where to put them as you can just fill land as it becomes available.
Leeks are a mainstay and mine are in clumps awaiting transplanting and soon it will be time to start sowing spring cabbage (on my list for today!)
Jap onion sets will go in late along with garlic and broadies.
That will probably tide me over, as I have swedes, mooli, carrots, kale, cabbage and even tatties etc etc which I can pull as required during the winter as well as the aforementioned.
