which bit of the runner bean plant do the runner beans come out of?

i've got a couple of big leaves every 6 inches or so and some flowers but which bit of it all do the runner beans come out of?

also shouldn't i have a lot more leaves?

The flowers will eventually turn into beans, same as peas

        Hi ckfe,
The beans form behind the flowers. Not all flowers will turn into beans, some just fall off. but most should

Bit out of focus, but you can see 2 baby runner beans beneath the flower- growing out where the older petals are drying up...

after the flowers have been pollinated the bean pods will develop. Leaf number sounds OK just stop the plants (ie nip out the terminal bud) when they get 6ft - 7ft tall so more energy goes into developing the bean pods.

Don't worry if you seem to lose lots of those flowers I asked about it earlier this week and it usually down to the hot weather.

Plenty of flowers = lots of beans, well done and enjoy! I didn't nip the tops out last year and although I had many beans, the plants looked straggly and outgrew the wigwam. This year I've stopped them (although twice now!). They look really neat and I'm sure there are twice as many flowers, so will be twice as many beans. Making room in freezer already.

BTW CKFE - I wouldn't be going out to investigate mine because we have torrential rain here.
