Pinch the pepper?

Morning All - my peppers and chillies are growing at about the same rate - slowly! They are still in 4" pots and are about 5" tall and a bit spindly, but I'm sure they're not moving. Should I be pinching out at the top yet to make them bush, or is it too early? They are still in the house. I moved them from the windowsill as the leaves had started to yellow. Help please!

Some of mine are a bit slow too but they are in a plastic GH and seem to be picking up a bit in the recent warmth!

How long have they been in their current pots? Are they in multi purpose compost? If they've been in there a while the compost might have run out of nutrients?

I'm sure an expert will be along soon!

Hi Vikki, you might well be right I hadn't thought of that, they are in MPC. I checked that there were no roots showing at the bottom, but it might be time to repot and put them in the blowaway greenhouse now the toms are all out.

I don't pinch out my peppers , I just let them get on with it! They are naturally very slow growing early on but come on leaps and bounds once we hit summer properly!

I've never pinched out a pepper either. They grow very slowly and some aren't actually very tall when fully mature (although some can be!) I've got some bright yellow chillies on one - it was a mix called chili shake - I think a freebie from GYO mag. It's a lovely looking plant.

Not pinched mine either. All bearing fruit with 15-20 peppers on each, tallest of which are over 3ft.

I take it we never hit Summer last year then, my chillis neither leapt nor bound, they stopped growing at about 4" tall and produced no fruit

Mine have put on a spurt recently. But could do with some tips to get them fruiting.

Mine too last year, so I hoped to do better this year, but we don't seem to be attracting many tips! Guess it's just a case of patience and pot on for me.

Early Feb.
I continue to spray them with liquid seaweed extract. I also feed them with a granulised fertalizer.

My sweet peppers have buds on them but things are very slow,not seen much growth in over a fortnight.
