Moving broad beans...?

I have realised that, due to a daft error/being a newbie, I have planted my broad bean plants in the wrong place. I have put them to grow up 8ft canes made out in an A frame.

I now realise that this is a waste of canes and space.

Is it possible for me to move them to their proper location? They have only been in the ground for 3 days and are about 8" high.

If they have only been in 3 days they have barely had time to realise they can spread their roots. Personally I'd move them, water them well in their new location, and they'll hardly know the difference.

True, but on the opposite side of the A frame is runner beans............

You could try. Puddle them in really well after you've moved them, and mulch with dry soil to trap in the moisture.

I've moved broadies successfully. They go a bit limp for a few hours but a good drink sorts them out. One of these years I'll actually plan me garden! I always feel it should grow organically so to speak!

After three days in the soil you'll have no problems whatever! I moved mine, which were sown in the autumn outdoors. I relocated them the following spring when they were 9 inches high to a new allotment and they didn't suffer at all.

Very hardy and obliging things are broadies!
