Radishes

have decided to plant some small globe like Radishes in a pot/s what are the best sizes to get and how deep will it need to be?

I have grown French Breakfast in the mushroom cartons you get from the supermarket - about 8 inch square and 3 inch deep - no problems. It was just an experiment and it has worked well for me.

Totally agree you don't need much depth and the size depends on how many you want to grow
The last lot i grew (Just Harvested the last one) were in an old gutter that i hung on the wall drilled holes in it and filled with MPC from B&Q they grew in no time next batch going on this week

Thanks, I have already grown some this year in raised beds and harvested them which was great as this was the first thing we grew and managed to eat!! go some more growing in the sides of the raised beds but it seems a bit of a waste of space so was going to try them now in a container of sorts. So would something about 3" deep to grow them be ok as that would be a great space saver.

Guttering! What a great idea! I've got a few radishes in a shallow little trough but could really do without using up more floor/patio space with more containers.

I think I will track down some old guttering and start attaching it to the fence panels ASAP!

Ooooh - I guess you could even attach gutter brackets and then just pop lengths of guttering in and out as necessary to make it easier to sow and harvest? I know a roofer! I will phone him tomorrow to see if he has any spare brackets and off cuts of guttering! Superb!

That is a good idea, I cut some guttering up to fit on the side of the fence earlier, just need to attach and got me Radish planters all setup.

You can see how i put the guttering i am currently using it for spring onions
You can use them for anything that doesn't require alot of root space

What a good idea this is, salad leaves, radish etc. The idea of brackets for the guttering so you can swop when depleted is one I had thought of but not actioned. DIY shops brace yourselves for the rush on guttering.
