onion no show

i planted 2 varieties of onion seeds in feb and none of them have germinated. do onion seeds have to be fresh to grow? don't know what the age of them is but they wont be more than a couple of years old. i've used realy old cabbage seeds and they've all germinated.

Onions are notorious for not showing when they are a couple of years old....I'd get some new seeds now and get them in....they will be late but still of a decent size by later on this year.

Wilkos have still got onion sets in some of their stores, if you need them.

was in wilko's last week,i was looking at red sun shallots,some of them are looking a bit ropey,the sets are the same,i asked about a reduction,and got a 1/4 of the price of ,so might be worth having a feel as well as a look at the bulbs,and they were in the same condition this week as well,so not took of the sheves or offered as reduced,if you don't ask,you don't know,
