Not a good start to the season.

Have missed ngetting my early and second early spuds in so having to plant them today aand I expect next week I shall be putting main crop in.

I know they all develop at different rates but would really have liked to got my earlies in a couple of weeks ago.

plus it is raining.

Never mind - it's still only March, so you won't see that much of a difference in harvest times. And I don't know about Leeds, but we're forecast sunshine all day tomorrow!

You're looking (well, virtually of course!) at someone else who has yet to plant a single spud! My earlies are chitting madly in the spare room, and my second earlies and main crops are....yet to arrive from T & M . But hey ho, I reckon they'll pretty much catch up with everyone elses, or so I keep telling myself.

I was told by a local fella that

"If you can see the sky through an ash tree there's still time to plant your spuds"

Plenty of sky through the ash trees here - and I reckon the Irish know a trick or two about potato growing.
(and I haven't done mine yet either so that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it !!)

The soil hasn't been warm enough yet.

have to say i'm with Hayley....i panicked when i read the opening lines as well.....i havent planted any spuds yet.....will start at easter i think.....frost and very cold here last night/this morning!.

We got half of my maincrop's planted yesterday, but still haven't planted any of my earlies or second earlies They'll all be going in pots and I haven't got any compost yet!
The forecast is cracking for the rest of this week, and the soil temp said to be 10�c by Thursday, so next weekend should be perfect for planting

End of this week and next week for us...I don't bother with exact dates- anytime around Easter when the land has warmed and dried a bit!
