I had the same problem as Vegnut with his Merit beans with my White Lady beans....thats why I thought of trying something else. Maybe I should visit he garden center...my home from home!

I'm growing 'scarlet empire' ..I think its a classic . I've started mine off in pots on the window sill and they are doing well, but somethings been eating the young leaves. Does anyone know what it could be, and what can I do or spray on them to stop it !

Think its all a matter of personal choice, soil type and of course the good old weather conditions (lets hope we get a good year growing wise this year). Certainly like to pick them when they are not too long and stringy - maybe next year will try one of the stringless variety.
