The wall of mine is reserved for outdoor tomatoes, it's almost south facing and the warmth/protection really makes a difference! I have a framework of eyehooks and wires so I don't have to redo every year which saves time.

What do you grow up your shed?

Well I reckon I might go for one of these new Kiwis. Arguta I think they're called. Frost hardy - produce large grape sized hairless sweet fruits that don't need peeling. They're nice and rambly, so it should grow over the roof in a few years.
Sounds ideal to me, and once they're established I'll see if I can grow sweet peas up them!
I'll also stick on some guttering and a water butt too, to improve my green credentials.

I certainly wouldn't grow a kiwi anywhere near a garden shed unless you were wanting something approaching an air raid shelter! My neighbour planted one to climb up one of the supports for her 'arbri' and it became a triffid within two years, necessitating being cut back several times each year. She thought it would behave like a honeysuckle! Apparently they have a height and spread of 40'!

Not allowed sheds on our site so no decisions to make. I did buy a boysenberry the other day which would be a good choice as it tastes like a blackberry but has larger fruit and the big advantage is it has no thorns. I know that ther is a thornless blackberry but I don't think it is as vigorous as the normal ones.

I grew achocha (exploding cucumber) up mine last year and it went up and over then down the other side! I was thinking of putting my Kiwi Jenny there this year (wasn't great in a pot last year) but have doubts incase it takes off and pulls the shed down.

North Facing Shed
A Morello Cherry fan trained against the side would do well, as they like Noth Facing walls, don't see why they would not grow against your shed.Originally posted by womble View PostMy shed side faces north, what could I grow up that?
However you would have the net them to keep the birds off if you want a crop.
