Moss uses.

Folks, I've managed to get a fair bit of moss out of the lawn and i'm wondering what it can be used for aside from dumping in the compost bin or basket lining. Are there any uses for it in a veggie plot??

Definitely good for lining hanging baskets. You can compost it but it takes a very long time to break down I believe. I'll be interested to see if anyone knows of other uses

I chuck mine around seedlings as a mulch, keeps the moisture in and it looks tidy enough. Breaks down eventually but yeah it takes ages in the compost bin on its own.

Ha Ha Greenish, I knew that one but my first aid kit is full. Handy tip for the "preppers" out there though.
Joao, that is a useful tip and one i was hoping to get. I have a lot of bare soil at the mo and seedlings are emerging so that may well be my primary use.

I use it to line the holes I plant my spuds in as it acts like a sponge and holds water. Useful if you're in a warm location.

I have just collected a bag of moss from my grass patch, put it into a compost bin then sprinkled some wood ash over it, dont know if it will help compost it, but thought I would give it a try
