I’ve made in dent in the weeding of the path, but it’s now in full sun and it’s hot..fully sheltered from any breeze so I’ve come in for a restorative pint…… of waterLast edited by Nicos; 09-04-2026, 12:25 PM."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Soaked a dozen Gigantes bean seeds for a few hours and then sowed them in a collection of bits of drainpipe and tall pots.
Put the sweet peas out to harden off.Location:- Rugby, Warwckshire on Limy clay (within sight of the Cement factory)

Mowed the lawns and started shredding pile one of 3, got three quarters of it done. I think it's going to take me until I need to start pruning the hedges again!
Took the netting off a patch of kale that is going to flower for the bees to enjoy.Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

That definitely sounds more like a tomato than chard, chard is smooth and more likely to be confused with beetroot seedlings than toms. Did you rub the stem and have a sniff? Tom seedlings have a very faint tom smell to them.Originally posted by Containergardener View PostPricked out chard, was a bit head scratch about a few which looked rather tomato (hairy stem) to me.

Grumbled about the weather we've had the last few days meaning it was too rainy to plot this morning and the ground would be too wet to dig spud trenches as planned. Cheered myself up by getting some chitted beans into compost

Carried on snipping up laurel and yew prunings until I filled my garden waste bin for the 3rd time I think, still loads more to do!
Threw chicken pellets into the compost bin and around the fruit bushes.
Weeded.
Rain keeps stopping play.Last edited by Peanut; 12-04-2026, 03:38 PM.Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!
