  • Seed potatoes 2026

Had some tatties on back order from Simply Seeds(who I used last year), email came through ready to order so
Anya(I did grow these many years ago, as there were no PFA's available last year, thought I'd try these again)
Rooster(wife likes them in the kitchen)
Java( not one I have grown before, part of the family tradition of grow something every year you have not grown before)

I have the same tradition Burnie!
Last year I finally got around to growing sweet potatoes…which failed abysmally…I clearly don’t have ameno’s magic touch

All my raised beds are intentionally back to grass now, but I will grow a few potatoes in buckets, probably Anya

Blimey, you've started thinking about which seed potatoes to grow already? I'm gonna wait until next year I reckon!

I'm dreadfully boring and stick with my own saved seed from Lady Christl and Desiree. I have tried various other varieties over the years, but always come back to these 2, Lady Christl because of the first earlies I've tried this has much the best flavour, and it also doubles as a main crop, and Desiree because it is reliable, keeps well and tastes good.

As Anya is a variety I have not tried, if I can find a small pack I might give it a go.

Just finished eating last years spuds, a good reminder for us to get down the GC and see what they have for sale. Sold by weight so can be a decent price too.
