how frustrating! It's getting a bit late now but if you have any seed left I'd suggest chitting first - at least it saves on wasted time & compost if they don't sprout & it's easy to check daily for progress x

Andraste is it really getting to late I was hopping to sow a few more mid/late July for a late crop being the climbing ones I planted outside are sort of growing don't thing there going to be bountiful.
The ones in the picture and the ones I want to sow are dwarf french beans I have never grown them before so don't know what the yield will be like.
I read that the dwarf varieties you only crop for a few weeks then that's it.

It just doesn't make sense. It's not the compost or the beans and yet here I am. The beans are different varieties, seed companies, , all healthy and dry and mostly in date. I have never had a problem with runner beans.
As for the plastic cells, they are indoors at the cool end of the kitchen, not outside.Last edited by Marb67; 30-06-2025, 06:48 AM.

Ok, good and bad news - All the heritage newly purchased beans have popped up. All the peas and beans that were soaking, after 2 days, just one variety of peas are sprouting. The rest smell a bit pongy and seem slimy. Again it baffles me why so many are going off considering I have grown peas and beans in the past from very old seed no problem.
