        • Surprise harvest of the day - a single nectarine on the little tree on the allotment (in a container due to allotment rules), it's first fruit. Not very tasty, but I am impressed considering it's November.

I'm surprised it took this long to ripen. Even my late nectarines were ready by the end of August, the the early peaches were done by early July.

Yes, the tree is from the same batch of volunteer seedlings as the one in the garden (in the ground) - that one was all done end Aug.
I'm surprised the fruit didn't rot on the tree by now.
Probably a sign that it is struggling in the container, it threw everything at that single fruit but really needs a better home.

                    • Yesterday one orange mini red pepper & three green tomatoes (removed the two Cyril’s choice plants from the soil to make space for onion sets & potted up a French marigold that was there too & put it by my broccoli in the soil to keep whitefly away that I noticed the other day, squirted with garlic, soap water).

13 plants. Yield per plant wasn't great this year. I think I need to look into growing them further from the edges of the beds, as I think being close to the edges is holding them back (less root room, dry out quicker).

Useful advice, thanks. The first year I grew squash, I grew two per station and had the most amazing result, but the land hadn't been used for donkey's years, so perhaps that was why they grew so well. I should just try one per station now and, as you say, give them more room for root spread.

                          • A few more quinces, a few more tomatoes, a few peppers, and probably the last of the jalapenos. Plus another bucketful of dry beans for shelling.
