Yesterday I got the lawns mowed and watered the greenhouses. Today I made a start on cutting back my hedges. Why are hedge timmmers so bloody heavy! My arms and shoulders are killing me!Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

Only had a chance to cut back the wisteria and chop off a few lower branches from one apple tree…then the heavens opened. It’s just about stopped now but I’m not in the mood to do any more out there."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Pricked out all the brassicas I sowed a few weeks ago. Watered the greenhouses. Picked up lots of rotting windfalls, left the good ones for the birds etc. Filled the garden waste bin with pyracantha prunings, which were full of ladybirds, rehomed them onto an apple tree and left the bin open with twiggy bits sticking up for any ladybirds I missed to climb up, I will also check it tomorrow for any stragglers.
This was the last day of beautifully warm and sunny weather, it was 28c here yesterday and 23c today, from tomorrow its 15c and possibly down to 5c at night.
Boo to cold weather, I'm not ready for it to turn cold yet!

Today I finally continued with the conversion of the old coal bunker into veg/potato storage. Several years ago I had a builder cut access into the very solidly built brickwork, then my dad and I constructed a nice cedar shingle roof. And then it was used as dumping ground for old plant pots, empty compost bags, bags of vermiculite etc. ...
Now it finally has a door, very proud of my diy skills.
Tomorrow I'll thoroughly clean the inside and construct a few shelves.
