Uncovered the potatoes & lettuce trug yesterday,we had some cold nights,I’d covered them each with net curtains. Today I took my lettuce pots & broccoli seedlings out the blowaway for daytime & topped up bird feed, cleaned bird bath & put fresh water in. Ive just been putting all my little pots in the blowaways,I’ll check on them soon because it’s so hot but the doors are open flapping around to give a bit of shade & breeze.
Put chitted Pea 'Alderman' into little pots to sprout. Pricked out Celery 'Greensleeves' seedlings & some leggy Summer PSB. Also potted on my Cosmos 'Seashell Mix'.
Potted on crimson flowered broad beans.
Started hardening everything off.
Set up staging along the length of the 8x6 greenhouse, its usually all tomatoes but I have been very good and only have 20+ this year instead of 40+ in previous years.
Sowed a few more seeds.
Watered everything, again.
Watched the blue tits, pretty sure they're feeding their nestlings now!
Picked up lots of hedgie poo, I thought my days of picking up poo were over! 🦔
Despite doing this, my to do list is just getting longer!
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

Finally potted on and started to harden off tomatoes, aubergines, chillies and courgettes.
Prepared their beds on the allotment for them to go in in 10-14 days.
Cleaned up the strawberry bed and put some donated straw down.
Had coffee with my allotment neighbours.
Planted out parsnips (started in loo roll inners), cabbage, mangetout & 4 lonely peas. Threw some slug pellets about & some spud feed ( juuuuust starting to show). Tied in a wayward tayberry stem. Dug up a lovely Autumn Raspberry & some strawberries that had escaped under the fence to grow on the path & donated to a plot neighbour. Managed to catch the shed-shop being open & bought some growbags for filling pots ready for cucumber planting next week. Bit more chatting Sat on the bench for a bit enjoying the sun
Planted out my tenderstem broccoli plants.
Mulched the strawberries with straw.
Repotted my melon plants and outdoor tomatoes, and potted up sprouted runner bean seeds.
Lots of watering.
Got out into the garden early this morning before the sun hit it. Watered 3 veg beds, spread a layer of manure then topped with my homemade compost, all covered with wire mesh to stop the cats. Knackered now! Just one more bed to prep.

Yesterday afternoon, I gave in and planted my tomatoes in GH borders they were 2ft 6in tall with 2 trusses and getting to heavy/unwieldy to keep carrying.
My Mini bell even has marble sized toms
Cucumbers die too easily so to be safe are still indoors overnight.
There was enough time after work to repot the poor camellia - that's been on my to do list since autumn, it was starting to look a bit sad and today the bigger shinier replacement container arrived.
Also partially emptied the hot bin, compost will be used as part of the soil mix for an old raised bed where the soil level is getting a bit low.
Work has stopped play the last few days so all I have managed to get done is pricking out some lettuce seedlings, yes folks, I finally have some germinated lettuce!
