What I did today 2025

Temporarily potted up 3 x bare root blackthorns and hornbeams in last years tomato buckets until I am ready to plant them, and to check they are alive , I've learned from past experiences that T&M's bare root hedging is quite often dead on arrival!

Potted up some.of the sweet peas that were chitting and growing leaves I'd left them.so long. (Still more to do)
Potted up tomatoes that had germinated.

Bit of weeding and tidying up. Came in as I'd got cold( not much sun with a cold wind). Now it's blue sky and sun

Continued pruning my many fruit bushes

It rained most of the day but I did manage to notice some lovely Spring bulbs appearing and pick up a few more leaves,

Finally got off my backside and took the three foot bow saw to the buddleja.

Finished potting up my sweetpeas (seem to have more than I thought ).
Seed sowing.

Potted on my sweet peas then potted up some I’ve rooted from the tips I’d pinched off.
Mixed spent compost with dalek compost for my container grown lettuce plants.
Weeded then tidied my GH.

Potted up my pre-sprouted pepper seeds.
Dug over where a grapevine used to be, then planted my new persimmon tree.

Mowed the newly sown miniature front lawn. Basically topped the weed grasses but didn't touch the, shorter, good stuff.

CG once the plants are around 6 -7inch tall I pinch/cut of the top leaving 3 set of leaves to grow on, the tips go in water the roots take a bit of time but they do eventually grow.
You end up with bushier plants plus 'free' plants once the tips have rooted.

Thanks Bren In Pots I will give that a go when they get a bit bigger. I always pinch the tops but great idea to get more plants

How often do you need to change the water?

Nicos I’ll own up I’m not to good at changing the water, but it does get done before it turns green.

Dredged out the duck potatoes from the bath I grow them in (slow, muddy work), then fertilised the mud and replanted five of them for this year's crop.
