Well dodgy! Yeah, gets allergic reactions to things, wash powder, pollen, pets...but the turnip thing was nasty, very itchy/burny on the hands. Not nice. Don't know if its a widespread thing amongst 'sensitive types'?Originally posted by peanut View Post...I have always thought turnips are dodgy!

I grow an interesting variety of turnip called Oasis. It is advertised as tasting of melon, but I don't quite get that, but it has quite a refreshing taste and is not strongly turnipy. it looks like an ordinary white turnip. I use it either as an ordinary vegetable, usually mixed in with carrots or something, or in a vegetable risotto, where it is a nice contrast to other veg.Originally posted by Snoop Puss View PostAlso, you might like a 'golden' one.

Mr Snoop turns his nose up at turnips, so I've never grown them. But while staying with some very good French friends, the whole family fell silent as they ate those tiny little purple-topped turnips cut into cubes and sautéed in butter, the only item on the plate. Everyone regarded them as a delicacy.
I keep buying seeds and then never grow them because of Mr Snoop. But I bet they're great in a stir fry. Bung in a bit of gochujang or doubanjiang and everyone is bound to love them. I'm convinced gochujang is addictive it's so good.

Turnip allergy? Oh wow…never heard of that before!
Thats actually quite scary as it’s clearly not a typical allergy that I was aware of.
Certainly something to make a mental note of though!"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

I think it's a bit like with some other veggie (hairy) leaves, like courgettes, but much worse. Very unpleasantly surprising. Oh well more room for lovely munchy salads.Originally posted by Nicos View PostTurnip allergy? Oh wow…never heard of that before! ...
Gonna try getting some tatsoi and maybe choi sum seeds to try sowing (again, but a long time ago and can't remember what we thought), I do like a stir fry - without turnips of course!

Oh god, that's just reminded me, free p&p at T&M!

There'll be some free p&p offers along soon - just remembered a T&M email from a couple of days ago - ends 29th (today)!!!Originally posted by Andraste View PostI'm getting the urge again too - & as I need broady seed for an Autumn sowing I've actually got an excuse to buy some soon
It's just good sense to buy enough to justify the p&p

Ordered some tomato seeds because some of the saved ones aren't as productive as they were a few generations ago. Ok, It turned out they were F1 hybrids.
Also got courgettes, garlic and some fresh Scotch Bonnet seeds.Location:- Rugby, Warwckshire on Limy clay (within sight of the Cement factory)
