      While we're on the topic of caring for leeks, has anyone ever tried tying cardboard around the base of leeks to 'blanch' more of the leek? I can't remember where but I'm read it recently and wasn't sure whether or not to try it next year

        I've seen a picture of this somewhere. Looked like loo rolls. Will the leeks rot if the cardboard gets wet?

          Yes and quite quickly. If you are worried about blanching best to earth up
