  • What’s happened to my cucumber & courgette plant?

    Hi all,

Im a bit concerned about my cucumber and courgette plants. I’ve attached pics, the first 4 pics are cucumber plants and the last picture is my courgette plant.
is this disease on them? Or is it leaf burns? About 3 days ago my mum watered them for me whilst it was about 28c full sun outside and ended up watering the leaves a bit too (much to my fright).
These markings have only come up since she did that and was lovely and green prior. I grow them in the greenhouse in pots.

If it’s disease does that mean they won’t flower/fruit etc? If it’s burn do I have to do anything?

    thank you

I have the same looking marks on mine, as the leaves age I just remove the worst ones, they seem to produce fruit just fine.

Looks like scorch marks to me. Should be fine.
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs! https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...lies/smile.gif

Oh thank go I thought it might have been blight. I’ve never run into disease problems so I don’t know what to look for. I’m only in my third year growing

Pretty sure it is scorching by hot sun when the plant has not got quite enough water at the time it needs it. Getting water levels right for plants in containers in a greenhouse is tricky because on a sunny day they can need 3 or 4 times more water than on a cool one. One way round this is to use a reservoir below the pot they are growing in with a wick to allow water to be drawn up by the plant - I'm trying a gutter watering system which uses this idea for the first time, and so far its working well.

I have similar issue with my little ones this year.

I had some problems with watering, thats why I had to get a plumber to install outside tap.
