I think it's called ube too, but not too sure.

Anyone grow any? Or know somewhere reliable I can get them from? I'd like to try planting some, tubers not seeds, but feel quite wary of getting it from the sources I've seen online.

While traipsing around online, I saw this lady roast some and then bash it into powder and then use it as a dye. Looked like something I'd like to try. Bonus if it tastes good too.

It's too late to plant sweet potatoes this year. You won't get a crop planting this late, plus they're sold out almost everywhere, anyway.

Next spring, look online for slips or plugs of a variety called "Molokai Purple". It's about the only purple one you can get in the UK.

Thanks! I will keep an eye out for them. I hear normal sweet potatoes are pretty easy to grow but I just don't like them. I'm hoping these purple ones taste more like the ones I got used to in India - unlikely! but here's hoping.
