  • Fennel flop

I’m looking for help with growing bulb fennel.

I’ve been growing this from seed indoors and the seeds do germinate, getting to a couple of inches high. However, as soon as I plant them outside they all die.

    Any suggestions?

Fennel doesn't like it's roots disturbing. Only once been successful with bulb fennel and that was the time I disturbed it's roots (sometimes gardening is a mystery ).

They need continuous water. Other than that, all I can suggest is slugs might have nibbled through the stems, or you might have accidentally snapped the stems when you planted them.
It's a bit early to be planting Florence fennel, anyway. You should sow in June or July. Any earlier, and it will almost certainly bolt rather than bulbing up.
