Also started detailed planning of what is going where this year.

Too cold for more than a quick walk round today, and I expect that to be the case for the next couple of days. Therefore most of what I will be doing is continuing with the planning, which is tricky due to a new row of raspberries taking up space at the allotment that I would usually use for other things.

I need to go to the garden centre to get compost for my indoor sowings & some seed potatoes,look at the seeds & probably buy some put BFB around my broccoli plants & give my onions some seaweed fertiliser. Its good the days are getting longer,it’ll soon be spring.

Planning is ongoing, which is just as well as the ground is frozen solid. As I have a massive problem with whitefly and an emerging one with mealy aphid in the tunnel, I am trying to work out a way of removing all of the brassicas from the tunnel this year and giving it a complete rest. It is proving a challenge to say the least!

Still very cold here with freezing fog and the ground is frozen. I did manage to put the cover over the hotbed yesterday and harvested a couple of carrots from the garage, but until everywhere defrosts (Tuesday at the earliest I think) there isn't a lot I can do.

Still frozen solid, although I did manage to extract a leek from the tunnel yesterday. Extracting the chunks of ice from between the leaves was extremely tricky. Otherwise all that has got done was picking up a few bits of sticks off the grass paths at the allotment. The birds tend to throw them out from under the hedges and they do a great job of jamming the lawn mower.

Got the seeds sown in the hotbed this morning along with planting 50 onion sets, also in the hotbed. It is now raining and I have no gardening time tomorrow.

Managed to snatch a few minutes to weed the drive yesterday and harvested microgreens and a couple of carrots today, otherwise nothing got done.

I’m going to look through my seed packets over the next week or two & get my February packets ready to sow,off the top of my head is petunia,geranium,calendula if I’ve got seeds,sweet peppers,French marigolds,peas maybe. I’ll germinate them under the grow light then when potted on they can go on the windowsill
