Brussel Sprout's Beware

I went down the plot this morning and when i was stripping the side leave's of my sprout's a big EEEEK Caterpillar's on one of the plant's stack's of e'm they are now in the compost .
They must have been there as eggs when the snow was on them two week's ago this is global warming gone mad .
So folk's go and check your's out it might just be worth it jacob marley

My spring cabbage is looking like lace work and I brought in some salad leaves last night for supper - put them on the draining board whilst doing other stuff and out wiggles this lil green chap ...I shouted at him and he covered his ears and played dead

Checked the calabrese before dinner, and there was at least 20 young caterpillars on one plant - out came the spray!!!

I thought I'd picked them all off the calabrese th other night, but low and behold I managed to cook one, unluckily it ended up on my hubbies plate. A week later he's still looking thoroughly through every plate of food I give him before eating it!

i was hoping for a few caterpillars, so i could save em for the baby chickies when they grow a bit ...... unfortunately can't find any, so they will have to make do with the box of little slugs i've been saving

Lynda, do you want mine? I squished a big fat one on my kale today, I'm sure there's more where he came from. It's very mild here still - 15 C the last two days, so they'll be active

Chooks won't eat the cabbage white caterpillars you find on the brassicas, but they will eat the green ones you find on them, which I think is the Large Whites.
No birds will eat them btw. Wasps will though.

(Had my first crop of that at the weekend, nice broccoli, shame about the caterpillars!)
