Using environmesh in winter

Hi Everyone.....I have managed to defeat the cabbage white by covering my brassicas with environmesh, but have noticed lots of greyish eggs on my kale No sign of pupae or caterpillars. I think the eggs might be whitefly. I am wondering if I should remove the environmesh over winter. I have cabbages and broccolli in the same bed.

Besides providing a nice environment for breeding, the mesh is a b....y nusiance during wet weather when harvesting!

it's not eggs, it's mealy cabbage aphid. Squish 'em

I usually remove the Enviromesh once the threat of caterpillars is over - it can be handy to provide shelter from strong winds, but as you say, it also provides shelter for the smaller pests and the brassicas are hardy enough to cope with the weather (as long as the taller ones have a cane or some other support).

I'm just wondering how the aphids got through the enviromesh in the fiirst place?

I didn't put it on right from the start Snadger...... A lesson learned I'm afraid....it will go before the seeds germinate next year
