sweet potato slips

ok i have got my slips off of a shop bought potato and i am just about to cut them and put them in water to root but i was wondering does each slip produce a potato or mases of potatoes like normal spuds ...the reason i am asking is i dont want to find that in a few months time i harvest and only get a few pots

I grew some slips from shop bought Sp's this year in large pots. I emtied one pot out last week as the top was dying off. They seem to grow like normal potatoes with each root forming a tuber. Unfortunately, although the right colour, the tubers were long and very thin. I've come to the conclusion that North Wales, UK, is not the place to grow them Best of luck with yours.

How thin were they? I've had some lovely thin SPs here. The best I have ever tasted in fact. We like to wrap them in aluminum foil and bake them. Then open and serve with butter and just a little cinnamon sugar melted on top. Yum.

Was thinking that it was a funny time of year for this but have just noticed where you're based! Am guessing it's a fair bit warmer there than the frozen UK. As said above, they form a series of tubers on the roots and am guessing that you'll do a lot better than I've managed here. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
