Broccoli and cauli

Why has my broc and cauli gone to seed, thought they was doing well, looked to have a nice head then i saw flowers growing, feel gutted, but at leased my sweetcorn are growing, for the first time at trying x

generally veg goes to seed as a means of reproducing as it feels under threat. Can you think of anything that happened to the plants that may have conned them into thinking like that? eg if in pots, becomming potbound will cause this to happen, same as too much or too little water. I know its not a definitive answer but you might need to give us some greater details.

Broccoli and cauliflower do flower. You need to pick them before they flower.
I have just about got the hang of it with broccoli now, I can tell when they're about to go - but I'm waiting until next year to try again with caulis
