hi all can any one tell me how long marrows last when cut off the plant.iv got a glut of marrows most 2ft long, some are going rotten laying on ground,it seems a waste.
i have run out of carpet squares that i use under mw b/squash and pumpkins.

I have had a couple of Marrows from my plot over the last few weeks and have kept them my garden shed until using.

I have found that they last for about a week until they start to go 'past their best'.

Obviously longer in a fridge but they do take up rather a lot of room!

Definately no good for freezing though!

Yes - sorry - markwcel - they can be frozen for soup cuz they get blended up in the end or will break up themselves anyway!

Are they meant to be marrows, or are they overgrown courgettes like mine? To store marrows for any length of time they need to be ripened on the plant till the skin goes hard, and then stored in a cool airy place like a shed or garage.
