Although my courgette/squash plants are thriving and look healthy the fruit I have just picked from a custard marrow and a courgette has 'bumpy' skin! Is this a sign of TMV?

Hi SBP
It won't be TMV but might be CMV (Cucumber Mosaic Virus), but if they look okay then maybe you're worrying about nothing. CMV is described in Hessayons as causing "misshapen small fruits bearing distinctive dark green warts. The surface is either white or yellow with patches or spots of green"
It also states that "leaves are mottled with yellow and dark green patches".
Hope this isn't what you have as there appears to be no treatment and advice is to wash hands and tools thoroughly before handling uninfected plants. Infected plants should be destroyed.
Got me T & C 's mixed up SR! The plant leaves are big an green and mostly look fine - just had another look and a leaf or two has slightly white viens but thats it.
Just really worried cos I know mosiac virus is a killer....
Could uneven watering cause a problem?
If I get the camera tomorrow I'll take some piccies - I suppose I could try scanning the courgette??? No p'raps not!
