Apologies if i have offended you in my ignorance-this is why i signed up to the forum in the first place, as i really have no experience at all of growing and have learned alot already from what i have read. i do agree with you that if you took note of everything you read in books, nobody would dare grow a thing!Last edited by TheNovice; 03-07-2008, 05:26 PM.

When I first stated growing things[30 odd years ago] my plants had every pest and disease known to man.
Now I just let them get on with it unless I know for certain there is something wrong.
Its the same as anything all down to experience.!The greatness comes not when things go always good for you,but the greatness comes when you are really tested, when you take, some knocks, some disappointments;because only if youv'e been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.

Ha- I have the opposite approach to not knowing what I'm doing. My motto is "It's OK, don't worry - everything will be fine!"
Course that hasn't stopped the peas going yellow, the lettuce and salad all going to seed, the blackfly eating everything, the caterpillars eating the brassicas or the slugs eating whatever they dare... but you can't win'em all and - hey presto - it is fine cos we're eating veg!! And I've discovered that rocket flowers are yummy
