  • Growing peppers and tomatoes

    I have been told today, that you cannot grow peppers and tomatoes together in the greenhouse. Is this right? I have tried in the past and my peppers have been small, is this because I am doing something wrong, or is it because they are grown together?

    I grow mine together and had a good crop last year.

      Whoever told you that is talking nonsense Lizzy.
      Ideally tomatoes and peppers want slightly different conditions.
      Tomatoes like the temp between 18 and 22. Peppers maybe like a bit more.
      But with a bit of compromise they will both manage as many of us will testify.
      Good luck with yours.
      PS - you can grow them both outside and they manage there.

        I've grown them together in the greenhouse for 3 years! The only problem may be that they can be susceptible to the same pests & diseases, so if you get them on one the chances are that it will spread to the other. But if you only have one greenhouse, then I don't think you should be worrying too much
        the small peppers last year were probably due to the weather as much as anything else - all my greenhouse crops were pants last year. As long as you are giving them the best shot (water, tomato feed, warmth & sunlight), they should be fine.

          Thanks everyone, will move my peppers back in with the tomatoes and try again. Will let you know how they turn out.
