Hear a few spuds i picked today, thought i would show u them

Very nice...I normally wash them a bit before putting them in the pan though.

Not fair.
Nothing under mine at all, although got a huge canopy of leaves. I'm not going to have another furtle until end of the month.
Next year I'll put them in earlier (although I planted them in a hailstorm this year)

Fair enough Millit. As the other say, wash them first, then scoff em' and enjoy the lot

I've had first earlies in since March and they're still only size of peas, something' gotta' happen soon

Got a lovely crop of a rogue potato plant this afternoon(long long story), but nothing doing on the ones I've planted myself

Had a sneaky furtle today, and got two Arran Pilot spuds. Small, but perfectly formed. They were very late planted, so I'll leave them alone now for a couple of weeks.

Lifted one of my first earlies today and they're still a little small, but a fair few of them had brown "wettish marks" on them - any ideas what caused that ????

Well i must say after i washed them lol, they tasted so good with plenty of butter over them, still some left for tomoz

Oh I'm so envious of all you spud harvesters.
I had a little furtle today and NOTHING at all. Well, they're not really due until early July so it's not that surprising, I'm just impatient. I do find it hard to believe that these stems under the ground which are perfectly straight and stemmy will suddenly swell up to produce tubers... do I need to do anything to help them? We've not watered as the clay soil is still moist under the surface - not fed as the bed was thoroughly manured - do I just need patience??
