I think my chillies are flowering!

Nerobot, Chillies can flower in any month of the year once they get going.

Deezyb, if your chillies are out in an unheated greenhouse I would bring them inside. I had great crops from my chillies last year, but I never put them out of the house. We are 52 degrees North ! But the pics are some of mine.

my chillies are only about 3" tall :-(... but my sweet peppers, which are in the house on the windowsill, are about 1' tall and got plenty of flower buds already, I reckon another 10 days or so and they will start flowering, yey!!!

The peppers from the seeds Alice sent me last autumn are about 9" high and they are the ones with flowers on. They come in at night but spend the day in the greenhouse for the extra light. The early jalapenos are still only about 3 - 4 " high but growing slowly and steadily. No sign of flowers here and I wouldn't expect any for a few months. They were all sown in Feb in the house. Things take their own time.

Indeed they do, but that time is often shorter if you aim to give the plant their 'optimium' growing conditions.

I grew some two years ago outside down in Newcastle and they took ages. Didn't even think they were going to germinate at one point! Different type though, but came through in the end. Wish I could remember what they were, but someone gave me the seeds and they don't remember what they were either They only grew about 2-3" tall and gave lots of little (but hot!) chillies.

Impressive array of produce... this is what I aspire to, but might be a bit ambitious for my first year.

My chillis F1 Apache were sown in Feb and upstairs in windowsill of warm bedroom until recently put in greenhouse. They are only 2 and 3 inches tall, was wondering if would be better to pot into larger pots and start to feed?

Nerobot - flowers occur when the plant wants to reproduce, there can be lots of reasons for this, but frequently it's because the plant it getting low on food or it has become potbound. The flowers are a defence mechanism. If the climatic conditions are suitable the flowers will set fruit.

deezyb - Anaheim, Apache and Jalapeno are all annuums and don't take long to grow. So planting in March is fine. You could plant the seeds in June and probably still get a crop if the weather was ok.

As for the differing rates of growth people are reporting, it's likely down to temperature and light. If you keep your plants out in the greenhouse at night and the temperature goes below 8 (ish) degrees then the peppers won't like it. They like a fairly constant temperature. Low night time temperatures (single figures celcius) won't kill them but it will check their growth rate.

Are they really grow to 2 - 3 inches tall ? that must be very cute !!! Could it be Noseguy chili ? BUT Noseguy grow a bit taller (around 6"). Good luck with your chili ID.

wow....loads of valuable advice here from everyone! Alice your stuff looks great! Yip, think I'll bring them all indoors tonight or maybe half of them to see how the other get on etc!
