Time to give up on PSB?

I put my PSB in the ground some time last autumn and it has come through the winter fairly well, the leaves look healthy and the plants are upight. Only problem is that they are not sprouting They are now taking up space that I will be needing soon to sow early salads etc. Is it time to give up and compost them or shall I wait a bit longer?

Mine has just started sprouting, we got our first meal of one plant on Sunday.

Depends if they are late or early if earlys then yes pick um out if lates you might have to wait about 2 months more .

It's your choice - they will produce in the end, but you will have to wait.

Personally I love PSB and I wouldn't want salad instead

I only started harvesting from my earlies about two weeks ago but am now having trouble keeping up with it! No sign of activity from the lates yet though. I would leave it in the rewards you get are worth the wait.

You can also eat the leaves we've been harvesting them all winter when other produce was scarse

I have found that you do need to plant at the right time to get psb to crop when it's supposed to.

Usually its best to get them all in the ground in the late summer (August for me) so they can get established. My early (Garnet) cropped from Christmas and finished last week, now my late variety (Claret) are just coming good, which is pretty much on time. I've only got two of each, but it's great to have the continuity of the two types. They have a cold and windy spot and are in rather light soil, but it seems that they're reasonably happy.

It's always a cause for celebration when there's some PSB in our organic veg box delivery - now, if only the weather could manage to be a bit less disastrous this year, I can cancel the veg box and have my own, fresh from the lottie

Glad you don't give it up . I was about to give up on mine too but they finally produce their florets. I am looking forward to harvesting them.
