stupid question about broccoli!

This will probably sound like a silly question but should sprouting brocc be started off in seed trays and transplanted out, or straight into the ground? I've never actually grown brassicas before (i like other things more, and theyre space intensive, but i love brocc and now i have a whole lottie to play with ) so a very basic guide would be helpful

grow in trays then plant out but if i were you i would grow caalabrese you get much better crop this is what i do

I've sown the seed in 2" pots, pricked them out into more 2" pots so they are now one to a pot. I'll probably pot them on into square 3" pots if they look squashed before planting them out at the Hill after the broad beans and peas have come out.
