Pricking out Onions

Errr, dont know! just following the guides for growing I guess.

Except my Robinsons mammoth onions which will probably grow better if the root disturbance is early on rather than later.

I'm growing 50 white and 50 red (at the moment, probably more after these are in the ground)

Can I ask all you 'prickers' why you bother, why not just leave them until its time to plant them out?

I would reckon it depends on how thickly you've sown them SBP. As a Doubting Thomas I sowed quite thickly, not quite believing they would all come. I should know better - all my gluts start that way!

According to one champion onion grower onions should be pricked out into individual pots at the crook stage. This is very early as it is before the seeds have straightened up. Obviously if you sow one to a pot then pricking out isn't necessary.
