rootrainers

Got some off ebay and grew our beans in them this year - root system very good indeed. Does anyone grow owt else in them? Wondered about growing toms in the smaller versions next year?

I just got some and am not impressed with them at all. Very flimsy and constantly pinging open. I don't know why, but I expected more for my money.

I agree they're a bit 'delicate' and need careful handling (not trying to suggest owt there wizer ) - but am very happy with the beans & peas we've grown.

My peas grew really well in the rootrainers,and I've got sweetcorn growing in the slightly bigger set.You do get a good rootsystem, but I get better germination with loo rolls!I've only used the rootrainers this year cos I won a set from GYO,which I recieved abit to late to use last year.I must say my thoughts on them are not totally made up yet, as loo rolls seem to work just as well,infact in some cases loo rolls are better.

Not using mine until next year and then only for speciality crops e.g. beans, peas, sweetpeas but tomatoes I will grow the usual way.

I;ve got peas, beans, sweet peas and tomatoes in mine. Judging by the length of their roots I wished I had put in the borage as well.

I find mine quite sturdy as long as they are packed into the frame. I also like the fact that I can move so many plants around in a oner.

I've used mine for lots of things this year and although they are quite flimsy, they have produced really good results
