Is Beth Alpha female please? I have some female cucs I want to stay nice and sweet, so need to keep any male visitors away from them...

Oddly google comes up with conflicting advice, I grow Berth Alpha and mine do produce male flowers I just leave them be so i don't think you'd want them amongst your other cucs.

All my squashes are now germinating. The courgettes were a bust, though. I've ordered more seeds.

My melons are getting rather too large, too. I think I shall need to repot them, as it's still some three weeks or so until I dare plant them out.

My new courgette seeds arrived today, so I've put them to sprout on damp kitchen roll.

My 3 Telegraph Improved cues are all surviving and now in their final positions each side of the greenhouse door. The tallest is now about 18 inches. One of them has set 4 fruit, the largest is about 3 inches. The other two have only put out male flowers so far but there are a couple tiny female buds coming.

Crown Prince blue pumpkin/squash are all doing fine in 6 inch pots. I'll possibly plant them out in a week-10 days time, after hardening off.

Courgettes are half-way through hardening off but had a day in today and will have another tomorrow due to strong wind.

Watermelons are still tiny but now have two proper leaves each.

Gherkin cues are all surviving, all 15 of them and all have just put out their first true leaf. Looking to plant those out late in May.

One of the courgettes I sowed...yesterday? Is up already. The seed is 8 years old!

Being a determined type I put 1 more seed each of autumn crown and volska grey, germinated in 4 days. Who know what happened to the first lot?

Currently all but the last 2 are in deep 1lt pots getting the sunshine (what there is of it ) through the patio window. I aim to decant them all to continue growing on in the GH from Sunday/Monday when the night time temps are supposed to be 9c+. Although I will tuck them up under fleece. Hopefully I will then be able to wait another 3-4 weeks before planting out.

Himself indoors is agitating for the dining room back, I don't know why there have only been seeds on the HP and under lights in there since January...

4 courgette atena polka doing fine in small pots, 2 for others, 1 for me and 1 insurance.
3 cuke Beth alpha doing fine. 2 in pots and 1 insurance I bunged in its pot under an open ended glass cloche on the raised bed and it appears to be growing ok.
Have 3 butternut burpees in small pots and a potimarron, which are in the plastic greenhouse which is open during the day. The plot they will go into is covered with cardboard and I was thinking of planting through it.

Sowed squash, pumpkins and courgettes a few days ago (no sign yet ). Today it’ll be cukes, gherkins and melons. Exciting!

My Tasty green and one of the Birth Alpha cuc died on me so I've resown, everything else seems to be doing fine.

I feel smug, I just harvested my first cucumber today and it tasted delicious. I have quite a few doing their thing on this early plant now too and the other plants are on their way. Lets hope this temperature drop does not last too long.

My cucumbers went into their final pots yesterday, to be grown in my conservatory.
My melons and squash are getting way too big. They really need to go out, but it's still too cold.

Where I am, in Somerset, we have a series of cold days and nights ahead of us (might even be frosty tonight). It might be warm enough by Friday for me to start hardening mine off, then I'll plant them about a week after that.

I've just sown 2 q's, Beth Alpha and Diva and will be sowing in mid May/June 2 squashes, my favourite of all time, Potimarron and a new one to me, because it was cheap, Autumn Crown.

I sowed my first ever Melon seeds about a week ago and they've popped up, it's called Emir. I still haven't sown my Squashes, I also have Sweet Dumpling, will wait for this cold snap to pass then full steam ahead!
